Tropico 5 Map Editor Downloads
It’s been awhile since we’ve posted on TropicoChallenges.com and there is a good reason for that. When Kalypso released Tropico 5 more than a year ago, they removed two vital functions that were in Tropico 4… the Map Editor and the Challenge Editor. It seemed like a massive slap in the face to the Tropico community. In addition to the missing map and challenge editors, the game also had fewer customizations. For example, you could no longer name El Presidente! The removal of giving the player the ability to play how he/she wanted to was a major setback for the community.
However… Fast forward to July 23, 2015 – 14 months after the release of Tropico 5. Kalypso has announced that it has added a Challenge Editor to the game and it now is allowing game modding via STEAM. This is incredible news and shows that Kalypso does care about user feedback (missing map editor and challenge editor were two of the biggest complaints).
The new challenge editor and map editor are only available to those who play Tropico 5 via Steam (which is the majority of PC users). Steam is vital to the integration of these new features.
But wait, there’s more! Five new maps have been added to Tropico 5 free of charge.
All these new free updates were added as part of what Kalypso is calling “Tropico Day” – a celebration of El Presidente and all things Tropico.
Tropico 5 Updates
Make sure you load Steam to have the new updates applied. If you’re not a Steam user, you may want to consider getting Tropico 5 on Steam (or seeing if you can transfer your boxed software to Steam, which they sometimes allow).
